Loudmouth Books is an independently owned and operated bookstore and community space! We host author events, children’s story hour, and more, all free and open to the public. Loudmouth is dedicated to channeling our energy and resources right back into community programming focused on increasing access to diverse literature for all Hoosiers.

We are a Black, queer, woman-owned Indianapolis-based independent bookstore dedicated to highlighting banned books and uplifting the work of marginalized authors. Loudmouth was founded by bestselling author and Indianapolis native, Leah Johnson in 2023 in response to ongoing book banning attacks that target BIPOC and queer books and authors. At Loudmouth, we’ll always loudly and proudly proclaim our passion for stories by, for, and about marginalized people.

Herron-Morton Place Park is located in the middle of the neighborhood on Alabama Street between 19th and 20th. A cornerstone project completed by the Herron-Morton Place Foundation in 2003, the park is an evocative tribute to the neighborhood’s history and spirit.

Visitors will notice a large granite boulder which was a gift by IPS School 45 in 1916 to commemorate Camp Morton, a prisoner of war camp during the Civil War. A bronze historic marker also identifies the use of the land during that time.

Footlite’s mission is to produce musicals and other dramatic offerings and to provide for education and training of persons in the theatre through hands-on experience and classes in the various stages of dramatic and musical theatre.

Footlite Musicals is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1955. We offer the best of Broadway presenting seven musical productions each year. A new show is on stage about every six weeks beginning in July.

Come early and enjoy our beautiful two-manual, eleven-rank Page Theatre pipe organ, one of only a few left in the United States.

Baby’s is brought to you by the team behind the ball & biscuit on Mass. Ave.  We chose this spot at the corner of 22nd and Talbott St. for Baby’s because of the diversity and energy of the surrounding neighborhoods.  And we were enamored with the building’s history – including stints ranging from grocery store to drag-show venue.  Our vision for Baby’s is a casual, fun and approachable spot suited for families and b&b cocktail enthusiasts alike.  Our aesthetic gives a little wink to the past, and we hope to play a meaningful role in this area’s future.
