Fall Creek Corridor

At just four acres, the Watson Road Bird Preserve is one of Indy Parks’ smallest sites, but it provides an important oasis for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife just blocks from the Indiana State Fairgrounds. First established in 1925, the preserve is a destination for Indy Birding and easily accessed by the Fall Creek Greenway Trail.  The natural area of Watson Road Bird Preserve is managed by the DPW Land Stewardship Team, who oversee 1600 acres of natural habitat throughout the Indy Parks system.

Visiting Crown Hill is like traveling back in time.  When you set foot on this beautiful stretch of land, you’ll want to explore this vibrant, cultural and historical space, that tells the story of our city, state and country.   It’s a place to find stunning pieces of art in memorials bearing such names as Lilly, Riley, Ralston and Harrison.

It’s a home to several species of trees and a sanctuary to wildlife that runs throughout the grounds.  Crown Hill is a home for history, a resting place for loved ones and a cultural landmark. There are many natural and historical treasures to find within these sacred grounds.

Tab is located at the corner of 34th Street and Central Avenue on the north side of Indianapolis. Inside the beautiful Gothic sanctuary, you will find a friendly, welcoming congregation. Located just south of the Fall Creek River at 25th and Meridian St, George E. Kessler Park is landscaped with walkways and overlooks Fall Creek. This hidden gem offers beautiful colors of trees and flowers during the spring and summer.

The park is named after city planner and landscape architect George E. Kessler who designed much of Indy’s park and greenway systems along with those in cities across the globe.

This lovely community green space features a community garden, picnic shelter, and creative boat-themed playground area.

The Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center offers modern event facilities in a historical setting. The Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center first opened in 1892 and has hosted more than 129 Indiana State Fairs. Prior to 1892, the first 40 Indiana State Fairs were held at rotating sites around the state.

In 1990, the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center began its present existence as a year-round events center. Since that time, many of our venues have undergone renovations and upgrades that have continued to bring modern comforts to our ability to be a great site for conventions, consumer shows, conferences, sports, concerts, fairs, exhibitions, meetings, weddings, banquets and retreats.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis was founded in 1925 through the stewardship and inspiration of Mary Stewart Carey (1859–1938), a citizen of Indianapolis. After visiting the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Carey was determined to create a similar museum for Indianapolis. With the help of several civic-minded women and contributions from children in nearby neighborhoods, the museum sprang to life. Over the course of 95 years, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has grown in size and stature to become the biggest and best children’s museum in the world.
